is everything a dream or is vladmir delusional? what do y'all think. because pozzo can't remeber anything or anybody .. and he's blind... the boy cant seem to recognize vladimir and the boy also said it's his first time visiting which it isn't ... and even vladmir comes to question himself if he's even sleeping
Yea, I thought the same thing too. And Estragon doesn't seem to remember anything either. It seemed like Act I was Act II's deja vu.
ReplyDeleteSo one thing we talked about in class is that a person's fear is not death, rather not being remembered when we're gone. Which is why one of the main themes for this play is that what we do with our lives with the time we are given, until the time that we die, is what we are remembered by. Our actions are what is important. And being as though Vladimir hasn't done much with his life, he's questioning if he even exists. When one doesn't do anything substantial with his life how can it be proven that you exist due to the fact that you can't even seem to prove it yourself? Which is why the first time the boy came Vladmir stressed for him to tell Godot that he saw them; to sort of verify that they do exist and maybe it isn't all apart of his imagination. Because the boy came back and said that he didn't recognize Vladmir' it further made Vladmir wonder if his existence were real or if it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks Andrea
ReplyDeleteBut yea exactly what andrea said. Vladmir's reality is his fear, he is so insignificant, to the boy, to anyone, he does question his purpose and is is existence is only his perception. Act II wasnt meant to seem like a deja vu it was just supposed to emphasis the point of Act I which is the fear of not existing, and if our lives have a purpose. The only purpose that Didi and Gogo had was waiting for Godot but that was their hope. If Godot came to see them and knew they existed then they hada reason for living in a sense.
