So if Godot could be compared to Christ, then is redemption one of the themes of the story? And if so why do Didi and Gogo now seek redemption or believe that they'll obtain it.

  1. Just for starters when Beckett was asked by a reporter id Godot represented God or some type of deity Beckett said if I meant God I would have wrote God otherwise you are on the right tract by saying Godot is some type of redeemer for Gogo and Didi. It is also and example of how the main impulse of human existence is hope.

  2. I don't think they are seeking redemption as much as seeking a purpose in life. And i think that Godot symbolizes that purposes... he is the reason they are even waiting at this particular spot on these two particular days.

  3. In all honesty Beckett was quoted saying that "Waiting for Godot" is about symbiosis, not God because if meant it to be about God he would have simply said God.
